The appeal for the Anglican Church centre
to be built in Doha has finally been launched at Lambeth Palace. The
Archbishop of Canterbury has pledged his support for the £4 million
building that will be the first church construction in the state since
the seventh century. The church in Qatar has already raised a quarter of
the money for the centre. As well as the Church of the Epiphany, the
centre will include a library, a community café, a courtyard of
remembrance and a conference room to be used for interfaith dialogue.
