The newsletter of the Association of Friends of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf

EDITORIAL

Once again we share in the sadness and sorrow of the many Asian expatriate workers in the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf who have lost loved ones and friends in the Kashmir earthquake. We know that congregations in the chaplaincies will rally round to help bring comfort and support to all who grieve.

With Iraq still in the news, we were saddened to hear that five lay leaders from St. George’s church have gone missing, presumed kidnapped and killed. All were Iraqi and were key members of St. George’s they will be greatly missed there. Canon Andrew White, who has been licensed by Bishop Clive to serve as Chaplain in the Middle East with special responsibility in Iraq, has written a document outlining some of his work there and comparing it with life in a parish in the UK. It makes compelling reading and has been reproduced in “Around the Chaplaincies”.
