This year we were again represented at the Larnaca Synod. We have been
glad to provide locum clergy for various chaplaincies; such personal
experiences are invaluable to help make our Links live.
We have now seen the inauguration of the three-way link with the Diocese
of Thika in Kenya in the presence of Bishop Clive, Bishop Gideon and
Bishop Michael at Exeter Cathedral. We look forward to making much more
of this new dimension of world mission and our fresh relationships.
This year our annual exhibition in Exeter Cathedral included news from
Baghdad, Qatar and Nicosia, also the new Ministry to young people. A
representative of Exeter Cathedral Chapter will be working with the
clergy of Cyprus and the Gulf and, later, other specialist ministries
from Exeter are due to visit the Gulf Chaplaincies.
Lent saw us handling Palm Crosses for which we are extremely grateful
both as symbols and practical help. This year for the first time the
Methodist-Anglican Society of Exeter University provided packers and
crosses were despatched to nearly half of our Benefices. All the
proceeds from Devon go back to Nicosia.
We record the great value of the Cyprus and the Gulf Prayer Fellowship
to our people and parishes, which helps us to focus on the needs
overseas. Our revised Exeter Diocesan Website includes a page regarding
our links. We are grateful for all the encouragement and support we
receive under God for our Link and pray that it may flourish in all
directions.
Nigel Speller, Chairman.
