St. Christopher's Cathedral, Bahrain |
![]() |
The Enthronement service at St
Christopher’s in December was a truly wonderful occasion bringing
most of the Gulf clergy together with other representatives of the
communities we serve. As a lasting memorial to Gerald Green’s contribution to the life and work of the church and wider community in Bahrain, we have been refurbishing the outer vestry area in authentic Bahraini style. This includes the provision of a Bahraini door from the cathedral into the vestry/office area. Our close association with St Christopher’s school continues with weekly assemblies. From the beginning of this year all infant assemblies will be at the new school on the same site as the Juniors in Saar. This development means, sadly, the former infant school at Awali is now closed. |

The Mission to Seafarers, Bahrain |
|
More than a dozen vessels needed some kind of assistance during the last year. One has been under arrest for over two years. The crew of this vessel, anchored 12K from shore, did not touch the shore for over nine months until they were able to go home at the end of December 2007. Many complaints related to seaworthiness, living conditions, over-running contracts and non-payment of wages. However, the congregation of St. Christopher’s helped bring some comfort to seafarers at Christmas by contributing over 600 Christmas presents. |
