The Chaplaincy in Qatar |

Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the
Anglican Church in Qatar is now an official institution in Qatar. Much
work has been done to set up a new office, phone number, internet and
other administrative functions. A new website has also been launched.
There are now weekly Communion Services for four different
congregations, two in Doha and also in Dukhan and Al Khor. Attendance is
growing noticeably. Bishop Michael and Julia Lewis were welcomed to Qatar, soon after the enthronement ceremonies, when the new chaplain, the Revd Canon Bill Schwartz, was licensed. The new building project has been reworked so that it can be built in stages. Fund-raising efforts have been renewed in earnest. As well as the congregation arranging fund-raising events in the community appeals have gone out to friends and home churches. This Anglican centre will welcome all denominations and is being seen as establishing the Christian community in Qatar for generations to come. |
