St. Andrew's, Abu Dhabi

Website

Abu Dhabi, and St Andrew’s church with it, is entering an exciting new phase of development. There is already a most noticeable increase of traffic on the roads, as new families pour into Abu Dhabi every week.

St Andrew’s too must make plans for the future and a programme of renewal and refurbishment has begun. Over the past two or three years there has been an increasing list of congregations waiting for accommodation for services at St Andrew’s Centre. Now, the Coptic congregation has consecrated its vast new church and this has released its Chapel in the compound for use by others. As a result, there are now over a dozen happy new congregations on Fridays and evenings, making the total number of guest congregations over sixty.

The Revd Bo Hansen, from the Church of Sweden, and his wife Carina have arrived to take up residence in the compound. Bo is the representative of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) in the Gulf, taking over from the Revd Rolf Pearson.
