A set of Altar Falls, sewn by Irene Jeynes and dedicated by Bishop Clive, has been donated in memory of Canon Arthur Rider by his family. Arthur was Chaplain of St. Andrew’s from 1980-1985. He died in Kyrenia aged 95 and was a much loved priest.

Women’s World Day of Prayer 2008

We had a record number with us this year, around 70. George led our singing which was well rehearsed and enjoyed by all. We had more men with us than ever before which was encouraging!

Our speaker, Carol Qotob, originates from the West Indies which have similarities with Guyana ( the service this year was written by the women of Guyana). She had given her address a great deal of preparation, prayer and thought and gave us a new understanding of God’s love for us.

Several ladies and students came with Carol, and Val Brookes from Famagusta and joined us for tea before the service.

Carol was one of the founder members of the Christian group in Famagusta and, after services, provided refreshments for the congregation in her restaurant, the Moonwalker. This year she is leaving Cyprus to start a new life in the U.S.A. Carol was Synod member for Famagusta this year and spoke well at any opportunity. She will be greatly missed by many on this Island.
