Happy group making Palm Crosses in Dubai

Last year Bishop Clive dedicated the new Unity Hall and blessed the Canterbury Cross which has become the new logo of Holy Trinity. Its circular Celtic simplicity emphasises unity and equality. The Compound is functioning well and the revolving light box, at the entrance to the cloisters, scrolls the 118 churches that meet every week and shows what a challenging administration there is.  With the building completed, there has been a move towards the greater spiritual task of building up the people of God. Prayers and concerns have been directed towards pastoral matters: so looking and planning ahead has led to preparation for Mission 2010. It is hoped this will be a time of greater awareness of the needs of those most vulnerable and needy and to bring pastoral care, help and a deeper spirituality within the chaplaincy.

Gil and Marjorie Linden returned to Australia from Ras al Kaimah and now the Revd Nelson Fernandes and his wife Sudya have settled in.

At Christmas, Christchurch Jebel Ali teamed up with the Evangelical church and one of the schools in Dubai in a Christmas Shoe-boxes project. Each box had a supply of "goodies", was decorated and stored at the front of the church making a lovely display background for the Christmas services until the 22nd when they were distributed in the labour camps. There were eventually more than 1200 boxes, hundreds of blankets and other items of food.

Much of the ministry in Sharjah is done ecumenically including prison visiting and the planting of small fellowship groups amongst migrant workers with particular outreach to Sonapur.
