Alan Hayday writes:
"During the last 12 months Bahrain has noticeably changed. The
cathedral and compound are gradually being dwarfed and isolated by the
rapid building development all around. Traffic has increased to the
point where it has outgrown the roads, and new road junctions and
systems are out of date before they are officially opened. In the centre
of it all is St Christopher's, now seemingly sighted in what can best be
described as one of the noisiest places on earth. This has implications
for the future of the church when the majority of those who attend our
services live on the other side of the island. Nevertheless people still
brave the traffic to get here and our life of worship and hospitality is
very much appreciated.
The weekly Awali service took on new impetus when Bahrain changed the
weekend from Thurs/Fri to Fri/Sat. Now held on a Saturday morning,
allowing more people the freedom to attend, it is a totally interactive
and relaxed service."
