The newsletter of the Association of Friends of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf

EDITORIAL

Many farewells have been said to Bishop Clive and Jane over the last few months. They have both given valued support to the Association of Friends and, at the Spring reunion at Pilgrim Hall in May, the Friends too said farewell and gave them a beautiful glass fruit bowl. They will be sorely missed and the Friends send them love and much joy in their retirement.

At the Diocesan Synod, held in January this year, two important issues were discussed. One was whether the Diocese should change its structure, such as Cyprus coming into the Diocese of Europe and the Gulf joining with the Diocese of Jerusalem.

The second issue concerned the possibility of appointing an interim Bishop for a limited time on the retirement of Bishop Clive.  Much to everyone's relief, there was a unanimous decision that a) the Diocese stayed as it is and b) a new permanent Bishop be appointed as soon as possible.
As is usual at Synod the Chaplaincies give their annual reports and the following are extracts taken from those reports.
