St. George's, Baghdad
|
St. George’s is now used mainly by non-Anglicans due to the fact that it is closer, and therefore safer, to people’s homes. The biggest problem, and a great sadness in the past year, has been the kidnapping and probable killing of the four main lay leaders. It is now unlikely that it will ever be discovered what happened to them. The children’s Ministry now has over 150 children and clubs and activities are arranged for them throughout the week. Women’s groups also meet during the week and the first Mother’s Union will soon begin, possibly with over 400 members.
Despite all the difficulties the church is a wonderful group of people
who are desperate to stay close to the Lord amidst the great turmoil.
As Friends we keep them in our hearts and prayers. |
