The newsletter of the Association of Friends of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf

EDITORIAL

Although there comes a time when we all have to retire, we were saddened to hear that Bishop Clive has announced that he will retire next year.  Actually, we are all aware that clergy, in fact, do not seem to understand what the word "retire" means, so we know that Bishop Clive, and indeed Jane, will continue to be active in God's service; but he will be hugely missed in the Diocese, both as a Bishop, and as a friend to all.  Most os us never see just what a Bishop does, but we know that Bishop Clive has worked unstintingly and travelled extensively in carrying out his work and mission in the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf and the Province.  He and Jane deserve a time of "easing off", of rest and refreshment.

As Friends we have enjoyed the time he has given to us, especially when Clive and Jane have been able to join us at the Spring Reunion in Pilgrim Hall and, of course, at the Annual Meeting and Reunion at All Hallows.

Through the columns of the Olive Branch the Friends wish Bishop Clive and Jane a very happy retirement.  We will, I'm sure, see them at future Friends' meetings and look forward to their continuing friendship.
