The Olive Branch-St.Andrew's Kyrenia

In June the group visited the Open Day at the Deaf School in Lefkosa. In spite of their deafness, the students performed a colourful display of Folk Dancing and acted out a comedy in mime. A video was shown of the highlights of a trip to Istanbul. In the Exhibition Room a large display of items were on sale. Many of the goods were made by the children using materials for which the Group had given money. The ladies were very impressed by the high standard of the work and all bought lots of the goodies!

An appeal was made by one of the parents at the school for air conditioners to be sponsored. The Group all felt very hot in the viewing room and agreed that their next project should be for A.C. units to be fitted in the classrooms. Not only is it hot in summer, but the children have to keep their coats on in the winter as it is so cold. The appeal has been started by a donation from St. Andrew's Church.
