SUNDAY -FEBRUARY 3RD
The Sunday next before Lent
Ayia Kyriaki, Paphos, St Stephen, Stephani Village,Village, St Luke, Polis: The Reverend Tony and Irene Jeynes. We thank God for the privilege of worshipping in the historic church of Ayia Kyriaki, and for the developing ministries of St. Luke's and St. Stephen's; we thank God for the support of the Honorary Associate Chaplains and Readers. We
pray that the mission of 'sharing God's Love for all peoples and growing in our love for Him and for one another' will be renewed and strengthened through the holy season of Lent.
MONDAY - FEBRUARY 4TH
St Cornelius, Roman Centurion
(see here......)
We pray that the example of Cornelius, the Roman Centurion, will inspire each of us to recognise afresh the divinity of Our Lord Jesus, and with renewed vision and vigour say, with Cornelius, 'truly this man was God's son' and that we may come to the foot of the Cross in awe and adoration.
TUESDAY - FEBRUARY 5TH We thank God for all the lay ministries: the Pastoral Care team, the Hospital and Clinic Visitors team, the Prayer Chain and the Ministry to Visitors; the Ministry to Children, the Wedding Ministry, the Funeral Ministry and the Ministry of Music; and we pray for renewed strength for all those involved in this dedicated mission.  We pray that all which
clutters-up our daily lives, on this Shrove Tuesday, will be removed as we re-dedicate ourselves in His service and to His greater glory.
WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 6TH
Ash Wednesday
On this Ash Wednesday, we come to the Altar in humility, penitence and faith, seeking God's forgiveness for all our sins of commission and
omission. We pray that this Penitential Season will encourage us to search our souls, clear our minds and cleanse our bodies of all that prevents us from knowing, understanding and loving Him more
day-by-day on our Godward journey. On this day we also pray for Elizabeth, Defender of the Faith and Head of the Commonwealth, on this anniversary day of her accession.
THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 7TH We thank God for the privilege had by all living on the lovely island of Cyprus; we pray for all those involved in the election of the President of the Republic at this time; and we pray for reconciliation, unity and peace. We especially pray, also, for brothers and sisters of the Holy Orthodox
Church and the Latin Catholic Church, and for greater understanding between Christian, Jew and Muslim across the Diocese.
FRIDAY - FEBRUARY 8TH We pray for world peace, and especially within the Diocese; we pray for a greater sense of fairness and justice in the Western World's attitude to the Third World; we pray for fair trade and we pray for much greater help to remove the scourge of Aids, especially form Africa and Asia. We pray for our contact links with Dioceses of Thika in Kenya, and Kinkiizi in Uganda and for constant reappraisal of our commitment. We pray also for the Diocese of Exeter, and we thank God for the close links with
our Chaplaincy Wedding Ministry.
SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 9TH We thank God 'for our creation, preservation and all the blessings of this life; but above all'… for His… 'inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace and for the hope of glory' and that we may walk before Him 'in holiness and righteousness all our days'.
Almighty and Everlasting God
you hate nothing that you have made
and forgive the sins of all those who are penitent.
Create and make in us new and contrite hearts,
that, lamenting our sins
and acknowledging our wretchedness,
we may receive from you, the God of all mercy,
perfect forgiveness and peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

SUNDAY -FEBRUARY 10TH
The First Sunday of Lent
St Paul's, Kuwait: The Reverend Andrew and Nadina Thompson. Pray for the developing Chinese ministry. The Chaplaincy is in the process of recruiting a full time worker for the Chinese congregation and is exploring a partnership with Singapore Diocese.
MONDAY - FEBRUARY 11TH Pray for the ministry of Operation Hope, a church-based compass on ministry which has a high profile in Kuwait.  Pray that this ministry will continue to win good favour in the eyes of the authorities.
TUESDAY - FEBRUARY 12TH Pray for a new location for the Friday congregation as the present building is inadequate for needs.
WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 13TH Pray for the Chaplain and his family. For wisdom and grace in dealing with the different challenges that they face each day. Pray for the Church wardens Sonny Thomas and Steve Dadzie as they continue to handle the different issues that growth brings.
THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 14TH Pray for the work of the children's ministry so as to build an effective team and ministry which will enthuse the children in learning about their faith. Pray especially for Rob Butcher as he heads up this work.
FRIDAY - FEBRUARY 15TH Pray for God's blessings on ecumenical relations between the different church leaders, which are so crucial in an Islamic country. Ask for reconciliation between two significant church leaders in this country, that a long running feud will be resolved and allow unity to prosper.
SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 16TH Pray for the leaders of the Kuwaiti nation that tension between the conservatives and the liberals can be overcome leading to a government who will truly be able to meet the needs of their residents. There has been a rapid change of cabinet leaders due to this tension and it has been harmful to stable government.
SUNDAY - FEBRUARY 17TH
Second Sunday of Lent
Christ Church, Aden: The Reverend Peter and Nancy Crooks. Sunday is a working day. The clinics will be busy. Up to 70 patients will come to the general clinic with anything from measles to malaria, and probably 6 or 7 eye operations will take place in the eye clinic. Pray for accurate diagnoses, skilful surgery, vision and unity among all.
MONDAY - FEBRUARY 18TH Somalia is very near. Every day hundreds flee in open boats to Yemen. Many drown, some survivors arrive. Pray for wisdom to know how best to help. “Give comfort, O Lord, to all who are torn away from their homes and their loved ones by war, famine or the cruelty of their fellows; grant that we who dwell secure in this insecure world may be generous in caring for our displaced brothers and sisters.” (From With all God’s
People
. John Carden)
TUESDAY - FEBRUARY 19TH Aden was once the world’s second busiest port. It is no longer but there is good work to be done amongst seafarers of many nationalities – Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Egyptian, Ukrainian. With an energetic assistant, much more could be done, while a simple internet centre
beside the church could be a great blessing.  Praise God for access to the port and a ready welcome.
WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 20TH When Christ Church was restored, guest rooms were built.  They are in constant use, often by Christian workers from across the country wanting a break by the sea. Pray they may find encouragement, refreshment and hope. Maggie le Roy will be leading a retreat here soon. Today she is doing that in Taiz, Yemen’s third city. Pray for her, with thanksgiving.
THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 21ST Thursdays are often special project and maintenance days, while the clinics are closed. Praise God for the deeply committed and competent maintenance team, Christian Ethiopian refugees. Pray for wise and imaginative use and development of the buildings, and for God’s protection over us all, that he may ‘watch over our coming and going’.
FRIDAY - FEBRUARY 22ND Today, from almost ‘every tribe and nation’, 15 or 16 nationalities join to worship. What a privilege and a joy!  Pray that their worship may be filled with joyful anticipation and lives shaped in loving obedience to Christ,
SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 23RD Martyrdom of Polycarp. A new Yemeni Christian said recently, ‘I know it’s risky; Jesus spoke of a cross. I have studied his words, but I do want to follow him.’ Pray for this young man and for other young people in whose hearts is the same resolve. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12.11
SUNDAY - FEBRUARY 24TH
Third Sunday of Lent
St Andrew, Kyrenia: The Reverend Michael and June Houston. Pray for those living in Northern Cyprus from other places. May they know they are guests in the land and have respect for its people and culture.
MONDAY - FEBRUARY 25TH
St Matthias the Apostle
Pray for all those living in the Parish of St. Andrew's, that their homes may be places of love and respect for each other.
TUESDAY - FEBRUARY 26TH Pray, in this season of Lent, for those who walk in darkness, blind to their own shortcomings and the needs of others, that Christ will light up their way, curing their blindness and leading them to His kingdom.
WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 27TH Peter, James and John saw Christ transfigured on the mountain. They themselves were transfigured by the sight. Pray that our lives may be
transfigured by prayerful meditation during this season of Lent.
THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 28TH Pray that Christ will give us the wisdom to recognise temptation and give us the discernment to distinguish between good and evil; Lent is a
good time for us to confront the temptations in our lives
FRIDAY - FEBRUARY 29TH Pray that God will give us the grace of friendship in our lives, that we will always remain faithful to friends in our Parishes and in the Communities in which we live.
SATURDAY - MARCH 1ST Pray that Christ may invite us to come to him alone. Each person is made by God to have a conversation with God through prayer
