Thursday: Sunday next before Advent - Christ the King

All being well by the time you are reading this St. Andrew's will have a new Chaplain. We thank the Lord for all the work that has been done and continues to be done in the Church and by its members and pray for the ongoing work of the Church.

As we approach Advent let us remember that once again we prepare to receive the Christ Child to this earth. Advent can be a very special time or it may have no relevance in your life at all. Do please try to make the best of the Advent season; it can be so busy that sadly the main purpose of the weeks leading up to Christmas can become very hard work and perhaps something of a chore. Let us all try to take a little extra time this year to prepare for this wonderful event. A little extra time spent in prayer, an extra visit to someone we have meant to write to for so long. Whatever it may be let us pray for each other, for those around us and for all God's people wherever they may be, that this will be a very special Advent time leading up to a wonderful and Joyous Christmas.

Clement of Alexandria:
God of all wisdom and love, by the power of your
Spirit you called your servant Clement to faith in your
Son Jesus Christ and to be a faithful and wise commender
of that faith. Stir up in us the power of your Holy Spirit
of wisdom that we may understand your truth more deeply,
live in its light more fully, and commend it to our
neighbours more effectively. Grant this through Jesus Christ
your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Be ever near our side, our Shepherd and our guide, our
staff and song, Jesus, Thou Son of God, by Thy perennial
word, lead us where Thou has trod. Make our faith strong.
