Bartholomew the Apostle
| This
year St. Helena's are celebrating 100 years since English-speaking
Christians first met to form this congregation. Events will
soon be planned, both spiritual and social, to observe this
achievement. There have been many ups-and-downs and
comings-and-goings since 1907, but God has been faithful, and His
people have kept the ministry alive here. It now appears that we have more opportunity than ever before for extending Christ's gospel in the LARNACA region. More families with children have appeared of late, and there are many new migrants from the British Isles and parts of Europe and North America who are a vast mission field for us. We have had a changing of the guard at St. Helena's over the past months, with some old-timers leaving and an even greater number of newcomers moving in, some with no Christian formation. The task before us is to make disciples of them for Christ's sake, and to reach others through them. Please pray for: |
St. Helena's to continue on its path to becoming a missionary church; |
For adaptation of longer-term members to new ways of doing Church; |
For us to break into the mission field of new residents in the area; |
For the life of prayer to continue growing here. |
| In addition, with the advent of the Euro next January, we are facing a formidable challenge in our Christian giving programme. We will be praying and trusting that instead of a drop in giving early next year, the change in currency will bring a higher level of offering to God. |
