Diocesan Prayer Fellowship

Limassol

26th August, 2007
The Twelfth Sunday after Trinity

Tuesday Augustine, Bishop of Hippo
Wednesday Beheading of John the Baptist

Today, more than any other day in the church's calendar we think of our Patronal Saint, St. Barnabas as we celebrate his commitment to Christ and his example of Christian living.

We pray for the work of the church here in Limassol and for all who attend out services.  We pray for the work which is done amongst the youth, holidaymakers, and the many different nationalities.  We also pray for those who work so hard for the Church and the local community.  Those involved with the Mission to Seafarers in the port of Limassol and for all who work as volunteers.

St. Barnabas (June 11)

Almighty God, who through thy Son Jesus Christ hast taught us that it is more blessed to give than to receive: Grant us grace, after the example of thy servant Saint Barnabas, to know the true joy of giving, and like him to be generous in our judgements as well as in our deeds; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
Number us, O Lord, we beseech thee, among those whom thou hast chosen for they friends; and grant that after the example of thy holy Apostle, the Son of Consolation, we may devote to thee all our possessions, and bring forth fruit in they service; who with the Father and the Holy Spirit livest and reignest, one God, world without end.

The Collect for St. Barnabas

O Lord God Almighty, who didst endue thy Holy Apostle Barnabas with singular gifts of the Holy Spirit: Leave us not, we beseech thee, destitute of Thy manifold gifts, nor yet of grace to use them always to Thy honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  AMEN
