The Second Sunday of Advent
|
We belong to, perhaps, the
largest province in the Anglican Communion. Our nationalities,
languages, traditional backgrounds, and experience of Jesus Christ are
incredibly diverse, defying coherence. Please pray that the unity which is ours in Christ may be manifest in the midst of all of this diversity. Pray also for wisdom, vision and understanding for our President Bishop, Mouneer and the members of the Provincial Synod as they discern God's will for the Church in this ever-changing part of the world. Give thanks for those who have gone before us and have left a strong foundation to sustain the growth of the Church through all the chances and changes of the times in which we live. "We all have to beware lest our theological sponsoring of our faith perceptions - and being ourselves sponsored by them - make us, in effect, monolatrous in the sense that we have become exclusive custodians of the God who is doctrinally 'ours'." |
| Father, we
pray for your Church throughout the world, that it may share to the full in the work of your Son, revealing you to men and reconciling men to you and to one another; that Christians may learn to love one another and their neighbours, as you have loved us; that your Church may more and more reflect the unity which is your will and your gift; we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
