Christ Church Ayia Napa marked the Feast of the Ascension today, with a special Liturgy of the Word led by the Reverend George Vidiakin against the backdrop of the picturesque chapel of St Thecla at Ayia Thekla beach, in southeast Cyprus. 

A white balloon was a visual reminder of the Ascension—of Christ being lifted up, and of the human longing for heaven 

With due care for creation, the balloon remained tethered, serving as a symbolic element throughout the service.

Following the service, the congregation continued in fellowship with a shared breakfast.
