Mothers' Union

The Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf Mothers’ Union was established in 2024, with Bishop Sean as patron.

The Diocesan Mothers’ Union is part of the Worldwide Mothers’ Union, established in 1876—one of the largest and oldest women-led organisations in the world. With a deep commitment to making a difference in communities across the globe, the Mothers’ Union welcomes all baptised Christians who share its dedication to living out the Gospel through service to others. Priority areas of focus for the Diocesan MU are tackling poverty, and working for peace and justice.

The first parish-level Mothers’ Union in the Diocese was established at St George Baghdad, followed by St Paul Kuwait in 2019.

In 2026, MU president the Reverend Christine Mbona was nominated by Archbishop Hosam Naoum to serve as Provincial Champion for the International Anglican Family Network, where she serves as a member of its steering committee.
