Danish memorial in Baghdad

On Monday in Holy Week Archbishop Michael led a short service of remembrance in the gardens of St George’s church, at the newly restored memorial to eight Danish soldiers who died in Iraq between 2003 and 2008.

Their Excellencies Christian Thorning, ambassador of Denmark, and Mark Bryson-Richardson, ambassador of the United Kingdom, were in attendance together with the Danish military attaché.

The resident Danish army chaplain offered prayers and a reflection. Children from the Anglican School of the Redeemer brought forward flowers for Canon Faiz Jerjes to lay.
