Bishop Sean had the great pleasure of sharing a service with St Barnabas Limassol parish priest the Reverend Deborah Moorgas, and Associate Clergy the Reverend John Attenborough and the Reverend Alex Sanders yesterday—the second Sunday in Advent.
Bishop Sean’s first official visit to the parish, the occasion was an opportunity to honour Diocesan Chancellor Stanley Hooper, who is standing down after more than a decade of dedicated and faithful service to the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf.
Bishop Sean’s sermon focused on John the Baptist, whose ministry, like all prophetic ministries, bridges the gap between how people see themselves and how God sees them.
At the end of the service came the dedication of a striking new sanctuary cross, crafted by local resident Derek Hughes, who also designed aumbry doors and an altar bookstand with Jerusalem crosses to match the sanctuary cross.
