Suhaila Tarazi, Director of Ahli Anglican Hospital in Gaza, addressed the Diocese of Jerusalem Synod today, reports Canon Don Binder:

This afternoon, the Diocese of Jerusalem Synod (Majma) welcomed to the podium for the first time since the start of the Gaza war, Suhaila Tarazi, Director of Ahli Anglican Hospital in Gaza City.

She began by profusely thanking all those present for their continuous prayers and support for Ahli’s staff and patients over the past three years. She then praised her staff for their perseverance through eight missile and drone attacks, constant medication shortages, and general hardship of life.

She went on to alert the Synod that the hospital’s main generator recently broke down because of a lack of spare parts and machine oil. Because of this, only a smaller temporary generator is available to power one of four surgical rooms. The city’s only CT Scanner has also been put out of service because of this.

While the hospital is working hard to fix the generator, she implored the Synod to work and pray for the restoration of this lifeline to the sick and wounded in Gaza.

At the end of her remarks, the Synod gave Suhaila—and by extension, all of the Ahli staff—a standing ovation.
