Bishop Sean is pleased to announce the forthcoming ordination of Maria Evangelou to the Diaconate, in a service to be held at St Paul’s Cathedral in Nicosia on 24 May 2025 at 1200.
Maria has also been appointed Community Outreach Coordinator in the Archdeaconry of Cyprus—a three-year post that Bishop Sean described as reflecting Maria’s “vocation to serve in God’s Church, with a deep understanding of the needs of the island’s people”.
Born in Birmingham in England, Maria is currently completing studies for a degree in Theology through the Diocesan Exploring Faith programme, run in conjunction with Queen’s College Newfoundland.
Maria has bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees in nursing, specialising in critical care. Her role as Community Outreach Coordinator in Cyprus begins from 10 March 2025.
