St Andrew Kyrenia welcomed Bishop Sean to preach and preside at a service on Advent Sunday (1 December), its Patronal Festival. During the service, Bishop Sean presented Bill Grundy with his licence as a Reader at St Andrew’s.
Celebrations kicked off with an evening ‘pub quiz’ on the Saturday—on the theme of St Andrew.
“The winning team comprised members from Pakistan, the US and South Africa, who showed off impressive general knowledge,” said Linda Balfe—“or excellent guess work!”
A dinner of Turkish lentil soup and Scottish mince & tatties was followed by Norwegian cinnamon buns and waffles, before the floor was cleared for an energetic ceilidh.
The evening concluded with a lively rendition of Auld Lang Syne—but not before a surprise performance by Bishop Sean on the bagpipes, “who brought the house down with his wonderful renditions of old Scottish favourites”.
Funds raised were donated to the Bishop’s Advent Appeal for Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza.
