Revd Lesley ordained to Distinctive Diaconate

The Diocese welcomes the Reverend Lesley Carr, who was today ordained to the Distinctive Diaconate at St Paul’s Cathedral, Nicosia, in a service led by Bishop Sean. The Reverend Canon Dr Bill Schwartz, who is providing locum cover at St Paul’s, acted as Bishop’s Chaplain. (Click to view short video.)

Lesley recently completed her training at Ripon College Cuddesdon in England and will serve her curacy in Paphos—of which Archdeacon in Cyprus the Venerable Paul Carr (no relation) is parish priest.

“I am excited to serve God in my role as a deacon here in Cyprus,” says Lesley, “and I look forward to meeting you all.”

Lesley and her husband Pete arrived in Cyprus in July from Cirencester, where Lesley worked in mental health and social work, as well as serving as safeguarding officer and pastoral lead in her church.

Lesley and Pete have four children and eight grandchildren, and a shared love of walking, reading and watching the rugby. They are joined in Cyprus by their much-loved French bulldog, Bear.

Please pray for Lesley as she begins her ministry in Cyprus.
