During a recent visit to Baghdad, Archbishop Michael together with Julia, Canon Faiz Jerjes and Mr Sinan Hanna Kakarash were hosted by Sheikh Saddam al-Atwani at a meeting of the leaders of Iraqi tribes. Fr Faiz and the archbishop joined other speakers in highlighting the multi-religious and multi-ethnic history of the nation of Iraq and reflecting on present challenges and realities for Iraqi Christians.

On 17 June the archbishop officiated at the wedding of Bashir, son of Fr Faiz and his wife Nawal, to Lydia in St George’s Anglican church. The archbishop and Julia also called on the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch, Cardinal Louis-Raphael I Sako.
