Diocesan Year of Jubilee: a message from Bishop Sean

The Reverend Deacon Rasiah Kingsley, serving in the parish of Church of the Epiphany Doha, shared a thanksgiving prayer for the 50th Anniversary of the Diocese:

Heavenly Father, we gather with grateful hearts on this special 50th anniversary to thank You for Your enduring goodness and faithfulness to our Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf over the 50 years. You have been our constant guide, through triumphs and challenges, and we praise Your holy name for all the blessings bestowed upon us.

We remember with gratitude the bishops, priests, deacons, religious, and dedicated laity who built this faith community, laying foundations of service and sacrifice. We honour the generations who have lived, worshipped, and served here, asking forgiveness for our failures to fully live our Christian calling.

Lord, we ask for Your renewing Spirit to fill our leaders and people. Strengthen our Bishop Rt. Revd. Sean Semple and our Archdeacons Venerable Paul Carr (in Cyprus) and Venerable Mark Derry (in the Gulf) our clergy, and all who serve, with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Unite us in love and purpose, inspiring us to be bold in our witness and generous in service to our community.

As we look to the future, guide us into the next chapter of ministry with hope and divine direction. Help us to remain steadfast in mission, reaching out to welcome all and care for all creation, following the example of Jesus. May this anniversary be a season of spiritual renewal, growth in holiness, and deeper love for You and one another.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Amen
