St George Baghdad: solace in prayer

A message from the Reverend Canon Faiz Jerjes, parish priest of St George Baghdad

The peace of Christ be with you.

The situation in Baghdad has begun to worsen. We have come under attack from three directions—from Iran; from Israel targeting militias; and, in a sense, from within—by which I mean some Iraqi militias, which have shelled Baghdad Airport, the US Embassy and targets in Erbil, where rockets and explosive-laden drones have hit houses and innocent families.

Our services at St George’s continue, and will continue, even in the worst circumstances.

Of course, some find it increasingly difficult to leave their homes. But the greater number remain determined to overcome the challenges they face, to come together in worship at St George Baghdad.

Thank you for your prayers for us.

Fr Faiz
