A public consultation on a municipal development plan for Limassol in Cyprus this week attracted a large audience—including the Reverend George Vidiakin, priest at St Barnabas Anglican Church.
Mayor Yiannis Armeftis presented a plan focused on sustainable development, environmental responsibility and accessible public spaces, with four key areas identified for regeneration—one of which is next to the grounds of St Barnabas.
Speaking during the consultation, Fr George noted that the St Barnabas enjoyed a history stretching back over a century, and called for it to be promoted as part of Limassol’s cultural heritage and an integral part of the public space promised by the area’s redevelopment—remarks warmly received by Mayor Armeftis, who emphasised the importance of local people and organisations joining in conversation around the proposed regeneration of the coastal city.
