On behalf of the people of the Diocese, Bishop Sean offers heartfelt thanks to the Venerable Paul Feheley—Middle East Partnership Officer for The Episcopal Church of the United States and stalwart supporter of Cyprus and the Gulf—whose role is to cease on 31 December 2025. TEC organises the Good Friday Offering, through which it generously provides financial support to the Diocese and wider Province.
Archdeacon Paul has served as TEC Middle East Partnership Officer since 2021. In that time, he has, says Bishop Sean, been “a brother in Christ to many, built valued relationships, and advocated insightfully and passionately for this unique Diocese”.
Conveying the sad news of his departure to Bishop Sean, Paul said: “During these years, my work has focused first and foremost on listening and learning from my brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the Diocese of Jerusalem and the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf.
“The opportunity to be present at your consecration, as well as to participate in many meetings, synods, and parish visits across Cyprus and the Gulf, has been among the greatest honours of my life. It has been a joy to share in fellowship and mission with you—coming among you to listen, to learn, to pray, and to deepen my understanding of what it means to live a faithful Christian life.
“I have sought to understand not only how your dioceses function—with their rich and complex blend of parishes and ministries—but also who you are as people. It has been a humbling privilege to walk alongside you in places such as Qatar, Iraq, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Cyprus—not as a tourist, but as a brother in Christ. I have witnessed firsthand the resilience and vibrant faith that continue to shine throughout the region.”
“Please be assured of my continued love, support, and prayers in the months and years ahead—for you, your diocese, and the wider Church in your region.”
“Paul’s ministry has made an inestimable difference to this Diocese,” says Bishop Sean. “We have been truly blessed by his ministry to us, and many of his initiatives will continue to bear fruit, to the glory of God.”
