Christ Church Ayia Napa held a special eco-service at CyHerbia Botanical Park in Avgorou, Cyprus this morning (11 April), gathering among fields of lavender and cypress trees to pray for the land of Cyprus.
The service took the form of a prayer walk through the park along a path shaped like the island itself, stopping at seven points to read aloud and reflect on a Bible passage referring to Cyprus—a unique way to reconnect with the island’s Biblical heritage and to seek God’s blessing on its future.
During the intercessions, prayers were offered for the land and people of Cyprus, for peace and reconciliation, for the care of creation, and for the renewing presence of God in every part of island life. The service concluded with a blessing for Cyprus.
“Cyprus has shown all of us hospitality,” said parish priest the Reverend George Vidiakin, “and we are pleased to ask God to bless this land—a Biblical land mentioned several times by name in Scripture. And this is important to remember, for we walk on holy ground.”
The gathering ended with refreshments at the park café, offering further opportunity for fellowship, reflection, and gratitude—to those who took part, and to those who tend this beautiful park.
