Two new clergy for the Epiphany Doha

Archbishop Michael is pleased to announce the appointment of two stipendiary clergy to the staff of the Church of the Epiphany in Doha, Qatar.

The Reverend Mark Derry, currently Rector of the church of St John the Baptist Walmer in the Diocese of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is to be licensed as the parish’s Senior Priest.  Fr Mark is also Dean of his diocese.  He plans to arrive in the summer and will succeed Fr Peter Crooks, who has served an interim ministry in Qatar following the departure of Canon Paul-Gordon Chandler to be Bishop of Wyoming.

The Reverend M D Johnson, currently in charge of Bethel Tamil Church, Chembur, in the Diocese of Bombay in the Church of North India, is to take up the role of Associate Priest of the Epiphany with particular responsibility for the Tamil-language congregation built up over the last ten years by Canon Jebaraj Devasagayam.  He intends to arrive in Qatar in June.

We pray for Fr Mark and his wife Debbie and for Fr Johnson and his wife Mary and look forward keenly to their becoming part of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf.
